Almost empties – Skincare Faves

Hey loves,

How’s the change in weather treating you? As I write this post, the weather is steadily getting cooler, the air crisper, and the foliage is changing colour.

When the weather gets transitional like this, I love re-evaluating skincare needs so that my skin is happy, unstressed as we go through the seasons. High maintenance, I know.. But I love it! 🙂

Skin condition: starting to feel dry because of change in weather and heated indoor spaces.

I have almost used up some of my skincare items which are my current favourites, and here’s a review before I completely run out of it.

Skinfood Secret Key Innisfree

Read on to find out how I liked these products, and if I’ll repurchase!

Secret Key Galactomyces Rose Edition | CA$29 for 150 ml

Cutting straight to the chase – this essence is AMAZING for me! I use it right after cleansing skin in both morning and evening routines. And the result is just wow! Instantly replenished skin, puts the hydration right back into the skin, and making the next layer of serum work better on the skin.

Secret Key Galactomyces Rose Edition

The ingredient list is impressive – Galactomyces, which is a byproduct of sake fermentation make this product a fermented delight! There is also no noticeable scent to the essence. The texture is watery, and is absorbed quickly into the skin. Fermentation breaks down the ingredient making the molecule size smaller, thus increasing the likelihood of absorption of the product into the skin, so I try and include one fermented product in my routine (See my Forest Essential’s Rasa review and Elizabeth Arden Prevage review for other fermented products I’ve loved). This version of the product also has rose extract in it, hence the rose edition.

The rose edition bottle has a beautiful rose lid, and the bottle is also beautiful with that luxurious weight to it. The product quantity lasts a long time so it’s a complete value for your money product. Fermented essence type of product is comparable to Missha starting essence and SK-II which are more expensive products with a similar underlying principle.

I have noticed that my skin is happy even during transitional season, and I would give this essence good credit for it. Great price point, quantity, and function. I think a lot of skintypes would like this product.

I have my eyes on Fresh beauty’s Kombucha essence toner, so I may want to try that next. But I would wholeheartedly repurchase this.

Innisfree Green Tea Seed serum | CA$29 for 80 ml

This serum was my nighttime skincare routine staple – it’s chock full of antioxidants thanks to green tea seed extract. I follow up with this serum after applying Secret Key’s galactomyces essence. I love that it adds a layer of hydration and glow to the skin.

Innisfree Green Tea Seed serum

Ingredients of the serum include green tea extract (a high 78% is comprised of this ingredient), also Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Oil, and some plant extracts.

The package is a cute green bottle, with a pump style, mess-free dispenser. The texture of the serum is mildly viscous, and is absorbed beautifully into the skin, and hydrating without being sticky. There is a very mild and pleasant green tea scent to the product.

Innisfree Green Tea Seed serum

I have also learned that this is Innisfree’s highest selling product! I’m not surprised, as this serum is really lovely – perfect for you if you’re looking for feeding your skin a dose of something extra, and will work well for you whether you have dry or oily skin. This has no real active ingredients, so it is more of a starter serum perfect for younger skins where the aim is hydration.

Also: if you’re a guy looking for a serum, you’re going to love this one. My husband (who also complains of skin dryness in colder months) has used this product and he loves it. And his skin glows when he uses this product. Can I admit that I’m envious of this?

Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence | CA$39 for 50 ml

This clear viscous liquid gives me life! If I could only use one product in my skincare regimen, then this hero product would be the one I’d go for. Yes, I love it that much. My beauties with dry skin – make note that you may get obsessed with this ampoule.

Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis

This has a sumptuous 60% propolis which is the binding jelly in honey combs, and is a super humectant, as well as 10% royal jelly extract, and 10% black honey extract. I can’t stop gushing about how gorgeous the texture is – goopy viscous liquid, and results are bouncy, moisturized, glowing skin.

I use this serum as a follow up to the green tea seed serum when I think my skin needs that additional moisturizing support. it heals dry patches on the skin and just adds that comforting layer to the skin which helps your skin retain and lock in its hydration.

Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence texture

As I liked this propolis product better than the Tosowoong ampoule, I will repurchase this, as I know I will need this ampoule’s support through the dry weather months. Skinfood as a brand has surprised me positively, and I would be keen to try other products from this brand. Impressed!

This is a product men’s skin would enjoy too. Soothed, hydrated, comforted skin – What’s not to like? I think

I bought all the above products from YesStyle. I have had a good experience with their website – just know that the prices fluctuate a lot based on the promotions they have ongoing, and the delivery time can be fairly long (expect minimum 2-3 weeks for delivery).

YesStyle hydration favourites

All the above products are almost empties at this point, so I’ll go on ahead and indulge in my favourite type of retail therapy – skincare goodies 😀

What are some of your almost empties right now?

Until next time, Wishing you happy skin days!
